Correctional Engagement Response Team
The Kent County Correctional Engagement Response Team was formed in 2002
to handle unruly inmates and assist the line staff in a safer and more
coordinated manner.
CERT is a team of highly trained Correctional Officers who specialize in Self Defense Tactics, Cell Extractions, High Risk Transports and Riot Control utilizing special equipment and weapons. The team also assists line staff with the shakedown of cells where the probability of finding weapons is high. The team averages 45 activations a year to a variety of incidents.
