Employee Learning Opportunities

Learning Ensures Achievement Program (LEAP)

LEAP

The Learning Ensures Achievement Program (LEAP) is designed to provide employees the opportunity to develop and enhance professional skills and to improve service delivery to the citizens. This inter-disciplinary program offers two curriculums - one for general employees and one for supervisors.

LEAP sessions are available on site. They are delivered through a balance of outside training sources and by staff with expertise in the policies, procedures and legal standards that guide the County.

Leadership Enrichment and Development (LEAD)

The Leadership Enrichment and Development program of Kent County is designed to increase effectiveness in leading both people and operations. LEAD provides management with practical information that is applicable to work in Kent County. Throughout much of this program the information, exercises, and scenarios draw from actual County experiences.

Advanced Leadership Series

The Advanced Leadership Series (ALS) was designed, in conjunction with Grand Valley State University, as a follow up to the Leadership Development Institute. The goal is to allow management to continue to improve and reinforce leadership qualities, to learn innovative management concepts and to create new County contacts. The ALS program consists of four (4) concentrated presentations on key issues spaced several weeks apart to allow time for required reading. Networking and the sharing of best practices remain a key element to these leadership sessions.

Tuition Reimbursement

The purpose of the Employee Tuition Reimbursement Program is to provide each employee with an opportunity to obtain and complete job related education. Tuition Reimbursement is available to full-time employees who have been employed with the County for a year. Selected courses and degree programs must be related to professional growth.
